The predetermined relationships are to ensure that all characters in the game have connections to one another and are able to interact through those predetermined connections. You are free to extrapolate and evolve those relationships (or realistically break them down) if that is your wish - but it must be done within the context of the game, and must be built up. No random out of the blue break-ups, please, without the appropriate motivation time.

Please note, that these facts are in no way permanent or even begin to tell the whole story. New relationships and friendship can form, old ones can end, people move and switch jobs. Use these facts as a way to develop and progress your characters.

Yes, the game does have journals which are about the closest thing the Wizarding World has to a social networking site. People can write lengthy journal entries (either private, private to selected individuals or public - depending on the character and the content). Sometimes people use them to ask questions or opinions to other people, update people on their life or communicate with others.

Keep in mind, most wizards and witches between 18-30 own a journal even if they are not necessarily the “social networking type”. If your character is not a person to use the journals, this means they must create an actual RP thread each week to meet their activity requirements.

We are canon compliant through Deathly Hallows. We are not necessarily Epilogue compliant, even though we currently represent Ron/Hermione and Ginny/Harry. Where these two relationships go will be up to the players who play them.
